This modern-dress adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tale of murder and ambition is set in the criminal underworld. Spurred on by his young wife, Macbeth claws his way to power through a river of blood. Once there however, they find that power has a terrible price and only the strongest can survive.

Egotrip’s first full scale production, this feature length adaptation originated as a play in October 1998, for Pitchy Breath Theatre at The Hawth. Despite using many of the original cast members, there is nothing “stagey” about the film. The shooting style has an almost documentary feel to it at times, which helps to sustain the gritty realism of the piece. It was shot during the early part of 1999 on Hi8 and DV, using available light when possible to add to the effect we were trying to achieve. The completed film had its first public showing on 5th August 2000.
